This month's featured design is a seven inch copper wire cross embellished with a mèlange of beads. Usually my designs work off of the focal stone, however this cross was inspired by the five cloisonnè beads scattered throughout the design. Working with several shapes and textures, gives this cross a unique dimension. Rudraksha beads were used for the organic texture and carved bone beads in dark espresso gives it a rich depth of color. Using the deep rusty reds of clay soil, the cool turquoise hues of summer skies and the warm sandy shades of the picture jasper beads, this cross reminds me of the colors I have seen during my trips to the panhandle of Texas. You can almost smell the scent of spring grasses when looking at the olive jade stones. To wrap up this wonderful picture of nature I added the sweet little hammered copper heart . And to think, all of that color in one little bead.....just goes to show you that beauty is really in the eye of the beholder! Believe it or not, this cross is up for grabs.....I finally got one in the shop before it sold.
Custom Orders are Welcome The Beaded Cross, shown right, was designed and created for a baby's nursery. Specific colors of the nursery and added details, like the baby's name were given when the order was placed. Although these details are not necessary, they are helpful when designing your cross. Color schemes, fabric swatches, magazine photos or a vignette, enable me to visualize your specific cross design. After a few general questions, I can get what I need in order to begin designing and gathering the materials needed. To complete the cross shown, a delicate organza ribbon, baby pearls and sterling letter cubes, create a baby's first cross. An heirloom to be passed on.
